The Charleston Bed Race was established in 2010 as a local fundraiser benefiting children battling cancer. The original goals of the Race were to create a new way for the Charleston community to get involved with Camp Happy Days and to help children in South Carolina kick cancer one dollar at a time. Today, the Race is a well-loved event for all ages that still serves its main purpose of raising funds for Camp Happy Days, but also provides an opportunity to increase awareness of and interest in Camp Happy Days and our supporters. When participants, vendors, sponsors, volunteers, and spectators come to MUSC Health Stadium this year, they will join in the fun and excitement of this innovative Charleston race while helping to bring thousands of dollars in donations and attention and awareness to Camp Happy Days and the priceless support it gives to children battling cancer.

So, jump under the sheets and roll down to MUSC Health Stadium on Daniel Island on May 1st.  A grand parade of the racing beds will take place around noon and the 7th Annual Charleston Bed Race will commence following the parade.

Awards will be give for: Fastest Bed, Slowest Bed, Best Decorated Bed, Most Outrageously Decorated Bed, the “What Were You Thinking?” Bed, and the People’s Choice Award.

Beds will race two at a time for a distance of approximately two city blocks.  The fun continues until we have a bed race champion team who will reign for the year!  The Beer Garden will open at noon and we will have 3-4 food trucks on hand to serve delicious Lowcountry food.
